Airplay from IPadOS 16.1.1 to tvOS 16.1 doesn’t work

Just noticed that airplay kinda doesn’t work when I try to show video from iPad safari to Apple TV.

I can choose the Apple TV device in airplay, it connects to airplay and then I hear the sound from the video on my tv but with no video. But in the same time airplay works in YouTube app.

I tried to airplay the same site and video from iPhone and it work with no issues.

So it looks like it related to iPad only.

The airplay from iPad to Apple TV was working a while ago, so it looks like it related to recent updates.

I’ve already tried to restart Apple TV device and iPad itself. All restarts didn’t help.

Any piece of advice is appreciated.

You'll need to send unacknowledged feedback to Apple on the issue, to make Apple aware of this so they can address and fix this issues in a future iPadOS update.

Have you tried using a third party Web browser and run the video there to see if the video runs in a differnt Web browser other than Safari?

Look in the App Store for Firefox for iPad, Google Chome browser, DuckDuckGo browser, Opera Web browser, Microsoft Edge, etc.

Try the video/s on a third party Web browser using Apple AirPlay to your Apple TV, instead.

See what happens.

Just tried to do the same from Google Chrome browser.

No changes, still airplay transfers only sound.

More over I tried to do airplay from iPad to MacBook, and result the same - only sound works.

So it looks like smth happened with iPad only, because airplay doesn’t work only from iPad to whatever device. Airplay from iPhone works like a charm.

I sent a feedback with the well-described issue for a while ago. And as expected there is no any suggestions or fixes so far. But meanwhile I still can’t use airplay from my iPad. It really frustrates me a lot.

iOS/iPadOS 16.2 has been released. If you have not already done so, you should update to this latest version.

A number of significant issues with AirPlay and Screen Mirroring have been addressed in this update.

The Apple product feedback pages are unacknowledged feedback. While Apple receives and diseminates all feedback from all feedback product pages, to cognizant Apple employee and teams, there will never be any individual response from any Apple employees or teams from any feedback that is posted to those pages.

The product feedback pages are one-way feedback to let Apple know all sorts of things concerning product users’ experiences.

Just updated IPadOS to 16.2 and still see the issue - no video on Apple TV, only sound.
