Notes section of Contacts contact entry keeps losing focus

This has been an issue for me for a long time now, probably back to Mavericks or before. I see there was a thread started: Apple contacts continues to lose focus wh… - Apple Community

Because this is the only situation I experience this loss of focus issue, I think it must be the MacOs software rather than anything to do with my setup. Does that seem to be a reasonable conclusion to draw? I have yet to try in Safe Mode, but I don't feel it's likely to solve anything. I will come back and report when I've tried!

Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

By the way, I'm running on a late 2014 27" iMac, with Big Sur, which is the most up to date MacOs I can install on this vintage Mac

Thanks for your reply. I can place the cursor as you have done and it works for a while, as in typing a few words, before dropping focus. I then click again on where I want to start inserting text and it works fine for a little while before, apparently randomly, losing focus again.

It's been doing it for years and is just annoying, but I've been living with it. (I keep quite a lot of notes about by customers and work I have done for them in their Contacts entries. I will try in safe mode once I've cleared work in progress so that I can restart in Safe Mode.

I've just tried in Safe Mode and I get the same result, Although the screen flashes pale when I try to type after it's lost focus, Which I guess is the equivalent of a beep warning in Normal Mode.

I have just worked out though that:

When I click in the notes to get focus, the cursor happily blinks away indefinitely.

If I then enter a character and pause, if I don't enter another character withing 5 cursor flashes (5 seconds?) focus is lost. and I have to click again in the window before I can type.

I guess this might be a feature rather than a bug, to prevent accidental editing of the notes, since there is no way (that I know of) to "save" the text other than to leave the contact and things like <ctrl>z to undo typing don't work

Actually MS Outlook is robust. Just make sure to acquire the version compatible with the version of macOS installed or going to be installed on this computer.

The integration from MS Outlook into Apple Eco-System can be achieved.

It will require reading the following link where Application Specific Passwords would be required to access your iCloud features

Must say, running 2 Apple Machines, both on macOS 13 Ventura and a third running macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra.

I can not duplicate this behaviour.

I place the Curser via Apple Bluetooth Apple Magic Mouse 2 in the Notes section of a Contact information and and type away at expected

Suggest the Safe Boot method to Test if it occurs in that Mode

Ouch yes Contacts 😔

Some of the More Robust Third Party e-mail clients have a Contacts like functionality Built right into the same Application.

Back In the day when on MS Windows, used their Outlook Application which as self contained for both Calendar, Contacts and E-mail functions.

That was year ago pre 2004 when I switched to exclusively to Apple Eco-System.

I didn't convert to the Apple Ecosytem until 2014 when I'd learned to love my iPhone and finally got fed up with my various Windows machines crashing and needing to rebuild starting with a fresh install of the OS.

Haven't looked back. I love the integration between iPhone, iPad and Mac.

This is a minor niggle in comparison. But not a robust solution I guess for what I use it for. I've just been googling for something better, but only found rather heavy-duty looking CRM (Client Relationship Management) tools. I and I guess that would lose me the integration across my various apple devices? Don't suppose you have any smart ideas do you?!
