Swipe function on my apple remote not working?

Verify the setting that can disable the swiping gesture. Settings﹥Remotes and Devices﹥Clickpad﹥Click and Touch|​Click Only (applies to Siri Remote (2nd generation or later) only).

That doesn’t help us. Please look for the Axxxx number on the back instead, if the identification page didn’t help.

I had a look at the clicked function is disable but don't have that as an option.

Then I suppose your remote isn’t a Siri Remote (2nd or 3rd generation).

Think the control will need to be replaced, its obviously got a fault.

That is black Siri Remote (1st generation). So, the described function doesn’t have an on|off setting for this model remote, meaning your issue is different. Please contact Apple Support about the partial responsiveness of the remote.
