I have 2600 movies and most of those movies are in Apple TV which is where the movies and remote seem to hang for a minute 2 minutes and sometimes up to 5 minutes. This is happening on all 4 Apple TV 4K devices I own and all are 64 GB. The issue happens with Apple TV and surprisingly the Vudu app on this device has no issues and does not hang at all. I have reset the Apple TV and ran the updates again. But all 4 devices are doing the same thing.
Sadly, this a problem I believe for everyone with large libraries that Apple hasn’t fixed. I have over 7,000 movies and can’t access my library using the Apple TV App but can through iTunes. My Apple TV App on Roku works perfectly which tells me it is a software problem on Apple’s end. If you search various Apple TV communities you will see that this issue is common. Why Apple doesn’t fix it is the question.

I just upgraded my iPad 12 Pro Gen4 from iOS 15.7 to 16.1.1 (20B101). (bad idea!) I have 2400+ Movies and my Apple TV app Library stopped updating now. I signed out and in multiple times on both the TV App and TV Settings Share Library and now my whole library disappeared except for 1 movie icon in my library. Apple should be ashamed of themselves to allow this issue to go on for so many years. My Windows iTunes, Vudu, Movies Anywhere, Amazon Prime Library, Google Play libraries are all fine on my iPad and iPhone. Only the iPad/iPhone Apple TV app has the issue and the Apple TV 4K units are slow to load/refresh too. This is big money for Apple's business; selling music, movies and TV shows. Why can't they fix this? So sad...
On my Apple TV if I use ITunes movies it works but Apple TV the movies hang, Vudu works with no problems. Apparently Apple TV is made for them to stream their content only as their content does not hang only my library hangs. They should fix this.
Update: My library finally repopulated a day or so afterwards. I left it powered on (and plugged in), the screen lock disabled, and let it just sit in the hope that it just needed time to sync up with Apple’s servers again. I noticed it started to populate with my movies and TV shows a day or two afterwards. Just wanted to let you know it did finally come back.
