Apple Music Animated Cover Art

My animated cover art does not work. I’ve tried turning it off and on, unsyncing my library, resetting my iPhone, and I’ve had this issue since my previous phone.

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 16

Hello Josromeso,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with artwork on your iPhone. Try turning off Reduce Motion to see if that resolves the issue as described here: Reduce screen motion on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"Your device uses motion effects to create the perception of depth on your Home screen and within apps. If you have sensitivity to motion effects or screen movement on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use Reduce Motion to turn off these effects.

To turn on Reduce Motion:

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Select Motion, then turn on Reduce Motion.

When Reduce Motion is on, certain screen effects change or are disabled on your device, including:

  • Screen transitions and effects use the dissolve effect instead of zoom or slide effects.
  • Parallax effect where your wallpaper, apps, and alerts that move or shift slightly as you tilt your device are disabled.
  • Animation and effects in certain apps are disabled. For example, weather animations in the Weather app.

When Auto-Play Message Effects is on, bubble effects and full-screen effects play automatically. You can turn this feature off and manually play the effect. Just tap  under the message.

If you have an iPad Pro (10.5-inch) or iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation), learn how to limit the frame rate of your display."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

I have Reduce Motion turned off, because I find the screen transitions, zoom, slide effects etc to be helpful — they are short animations that provide feedback to commands I have given.

However, the animated album covers animate continuously. It's like having a banner ad on the screen — the continual animation distracts me from everything else around.

How do I turn animated album covers off without having to turn Reduce Motion on? (Or, alternatively, is there some software that will let Music think Reduce Motion is on while everything else sees it as off?)
