iPhone 13, CarPlay not announcing WhatsApp notifications

I've recently got a new iPhone 13 (previously had a 2nd gen SE) and now when this phone is plugged into my car for Car Play, it’s no longer giving me the banner notifications on the screen telling me when I get new WhatsApp messages like it used to with my previous phone. I have played with all the settings on the car, the phone, WhatsApp settings, and all are switched on to allow car play and I’ve disabled the Face ID setting for WhatsApp. I’ve even reset the car play and set up the phone on it again to no avail. Can anyone suggest anything else I may have missed or give me any idea how to fix this as it’s very frustrating that this used to work so well on my old phone and was something I used a lot and it’s no longer working

We're glad you had the opportunity to verify all the settings for your applications and CarPlay. To confirm, have you verified the notification settings for WhatsApp as outlined below? If not, verifying the notification settings is important to ensure you receive notifications for WhatsApp. You can also find these settings outlined in the following article.

"Go to Settings > Notifications.
Under Display As, choose how you want notifications to appear on the Lock Screen:

Count: Shows the total number of notifications at the bottom of the screen. You can tap the count to see notifications.
Stack: Shows notifications stacked at the bottom of the screen, with the most recent notification at the top.
List: Shows notifications in a list."

Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad

Hi, thanks for the reply. I’ve checked these notification settings and they were already set, but I’ve turned them on and off again and it’s not changed anything with the car play.

I've also now checked that the car software is also up to date and it was so can’t think of anything else to try!
