Unable to put mail in trash.

When I try to put Mail messages into the trash, they keep popping back up in my inbox.

iMac 27″, macOS 12.6

MAIL: email going straight to trash Most, but not all, of incoming mail goes straight to trash; very few land in my in box. I am unsure of how this happened. How can I fix it? Not sure whether this is related or not, but some of my e-mail loses its message and gets another message attached; thus 2 headings, each with the same content. Missing deleted email messages in Trash folder I suddenly can't see any email messages I've deleted using the trashcan icon (delete) in my mail's Trash folder. It only works if I drag a message to the Trash folder. I have checked the box in "mailbox behaviors" to send discarded messages to Trash.

iCloud Mail not marking messages as read, deleting, or transferring to folders ICloud mail no longer marks messages as read; will not delete; will not transfer to a folder. Also will not load Trash or Junk folders. Each attempt produces a pop up saying try again later - this has been going on for several days. I can do all the normal actions using the 'Mail' account.....this is just in iCloud Mail [Re-Titled by Moderator]
