My apple TV has very slow internet speeds, but mac next to it is blazing fast.

My apple TV has been having connectivity issues for weeks. It comes and goes.

Just now I ran a speed test on the apple TV using the Ookla app. It never got over 1 Mbps. The macbook sitting right next to it gets over 200 Mbps.

Any thoughts?

There is nothing shielding the AppleTV. If I place my laptop in the exact same spot where the AppleTV sits it gets 200+Mbps and the same time that the AppleTV is getting 1Mbps. I don't really have another network to connect to, or another TV location to move it to. This is in a 1200 SQ FT apartment, so it is not like there is a great deal of distance for the signal to travel.

What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

How is the internet connectivity done? Through Wi-Fi or ethernet?

Check your router GUI for details on how these devices connect. If they don’t use the same Wi-Fi band, then that might point to a network difference where one device experiences more interference than the other. It is good to have both bands active; I am not advocating one over the other. Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support

Also see: discussions.apple.com/thread/252931334, as a neighboring network might be the cause of interference on one of these bands.

Both are using the [same] band.

That’s okay then. Hmmm.

Could it be that the Apple TV box is shielded somehow for Wi-Fi radio waves, like something metal next to it? Could it be that the wiring of cables (signal, power) is a bit tangled up, or in between the router and device?

If you can, as a test, please try to connect to a different network at a different location, to maybe find differences to pinpoint either the network or device.
