Wacom seems to work depending on hub?

I installed Ventura the other day before checking if everything would work with the new operating system. And of course one thing didn't: my Wacom tablet because Wacom has not yet written a new driver for use with Ventura.

But today, I was messing around with something unrelated—my Dragonfly headphone enhancement tool. I noticed it was not on—and no headphone sound output choice as well. I normally have it plugged into my Thunderbolt hub at the USB-A socket. So I thought maybe it might work if I just plug it into my regular USB-A hub, and it does work. But I also noticed something else working—the Wacom tablet.

How can this be? The Wacom has always been plugged into the USB-A hub, but why would it now work in Ventura just because of the Dragonfly?

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Why would having both tools plugged into the same hub affect the setup for either one?
