iOS 16.1 Mail Reply Quoting Selection

This behavior might have changed actually prior to iOS/iPadOS 16, but when I open a message in iOS Mail, select some of the text from the message, and then reply, the old behavior was that only the selected text would be quoted in the reply. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I seem to remember there was even a setting for that, but I don't see anything in Settings-->Mail about it. Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks!

Greetings kohster,

You can find help replying to email on your iPhone by following the guidance found here:

Reply to and forward emails in Mail on iPhone - Apple Support

"Quote some text when you reply to an email

When you reply to an email, you can include text from the sender to clarify what you’re responding to.

  1. In the sender’s email, touch and hold the first word of the text, then drag to the last word. (See Select, cut, copy, and paste text on iPhone.)
  2. Tap the Reply button, tap Reply, then type your message.

To turn off the indentation of quoted text, go to Settings  > Mail > Increase Quote Level (below Composing), then turn off Increase Quote Level."

Take care.
