ANC on the Airpods Max was excellent. After the latest update to 4E71 it seems to be weaker with no benefit in sound quality. I say this having travelled on a couple of flights where it was obvious that something had changed. The pads seal well on my head... But it's much worse. Still worth having on, but nowhere near as effective as it used to be.

There isn't a way to install a previous software version on your AirPods or iPhone. However, have you tried unpairing them and pairing them again to see if the issue persists? This can sometimes help with minor software issues. You'll also want to make sure that the iOS or macOS device you're paired with is also up-to-date. Headphones are fine. This seems to be a functional change in the way ANC works. Have you tried it on yours? You haven’t noticed it getting worse.
