Audible notifications for text messaging randomly stopping

On my iPhone 13, pro my audible text message alerts randomly stop. I go into the settings to double check the sound, it’s on, if I adjust the volume then I’ll get text messages notifications for maybe a day or two before it stops again. My mom is having the exact same problem with her iPhone 12. Any hints tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated! My phone is updated to the newest iOS available.

Let's check to ensure that a feature called Deliver Quietly is off. When Deliver Quietly is on these alerts occur in the Control Center, but they don't appear on the Lock screen, don't have a banner or badge symbol, and don't make any noises. Check out the section, Manage notifications in the article below.

Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch


If the issue remains after following those steps, try the steps in the article below for issues with sound.

Thanks for checking those settings. Make sure there are no pending updates for apps, as app updates could resolve potential issues. Here's how to perform those updates: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support. If you're still having trouble, let us know if all apps are affected or only some. And are notifications for iPhone apps, like Messages, affected as well?

Thanks for providing those additional details. Going forward, do you by chance have any Focus features scheduled or enabled when the issue occurs? We ask because if you have Focus enabled it may prevent you from receiving notifications as expected.
