iOS Mail doesn't see outlook.com junk folder as a junk folder

Hi there,

I need some help with an issue in the iOS mail app. The app doesn't know that my junk folder is a junk folder. It treats it like a regular folder and now I have two junk folders. One from Apple mail and one from outlook.com

But that is not the biggest issue: I receive a lot of junk that is already marked/flagged for follow up. (You know, the 'red flag' that you can mark an email with.) And these mails will end up in my 'Flagged' mailbox since iOS 16.

So my question is:

  1. Is there a way to tell iOS what the junk folder is for outlook.com accounts?
  2. If not, is there a way to filter out folders from the 'Flagged' mailbox?
  3. If not, is there a way to stop the junk folder from syncing at all?

It is driving me a bit crazy lately since the spam is right there between my real flagged emails. I hope that there is a solution.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the message in the Junk folder, tap the Move to Folder button at the bottom of the screen, then tap Inbox to move the message. On your Mac, select the message in the Junk folder and click the Junk button in the Mail toolbar. Or just drag the message to the Inbox in the sidebar.

If your incoming email messages are automatically placed in Bin / Trash / Junk / Archicve, the primary cause could be misconfigured rule / filter, or a setting on your Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. To resolve this issue, please make sure you haven't created any rule / filters with the action to Delete / Move it that would affect the email messages being moved automatically to another folder..
