There’s a problem with Apple Music

I get the above message each and every time I try to play a song from my subscription to Apple Music on my HomePod, but not to any of my other devices. I have had this ongoing issue for well over a year and no amount of restarting, rebooting, rebuilding, resyncing or anything else I can think of, or find in my searching, has ever lasted even more than one go round before Siri tells me yet again, “There’s a problem with Apple Music.”

There’s an old thread in the community that has one user on the phone with Apple Help desk upwards of 12 hours with the eventual resolution that Apple admitted it needed a fix for the HomePod.

My question is…has there been any movement on this? The old thread had 100’s with the same issue, are there others who share my frustration or that have found a permanent fix?

HomePod mini, 16

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities Katsmurph,

If you're getting an error when attempting to play Apple Music from your HomePod, the following steps often provide a solution:

Check for alerts in the Home app
If HomePod mini or HomePod can't connect to your home Wi-Fi network, can't access your Apple ID, or has another issue, you'll see an alert with details about the issue in the Home app. To see more information about the alert, open the Home app, then tap or click HomePod.

Check your Wi-Fi connection
HomePod mini and HomePod automatically connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone or iPad. To check your Wi-Fi signal strength, open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad and tap HomePod. Scroll down and tap Wi-Fi Address. The Wi-Fi signal strength is located next to your Wi-Fi name. If your HomePod mini or HomePod is in a location where the signal strength is poor, try moving it closer to your router.

You can find these steps with visual aids, here: If HomePod mini or HomePod isn't responding

We understand you've been dealing with the issue for awhile, and may have already completed these steps.

If the issue persists, the best way to find a solution, would be to contact Apple Support.

Cheers!
