Unread notifications in scheduled summary become frozen

I'm having issues with the scheduled summary function.

I updated my iOS to 16, but this problem has been happening since I got iOS 15 and every update I did between 15 and 16.

i get scheduled summaries in the evening and the morning. If I don’t open some of the notifications, my unread notifications will pop out of the schedule summary into the regular Notification Center as individual notifications, which wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that they are frozen. You can’t tap on them to open them and you can’t swipe them away.

Sometimes when I force to restart my phone, all the frozen notifications would pop back up as individuals again that you can open. But my most recent restart jut put them all back as frozen on the Home Screen. I’ve searched all over the community and seem to be the only one having this issue.

It's becoming really annoying. I am to the point that I will stop using scheduled summary because multiple iOS updates haven’t addressed it.

Thanks.

Hello, I do have the most recent version of iOS. This problem has persisted in spite of the fact that I regularly update my iOS and it has been a problem from the start.

I deleted the schedules as instructed. I restarted my phone. Created new schedules. The problem still persists. An article notification from Apple News that I didn’t open in my evening summary got frozen once the morning summary came in. The notification is now must stuck in my Notification Center. You can’t click it, you can’t swipe it away. It will remain there until I restart my phone again. I should be able to leave notifications in the center for a 12 hour period and still be able to return to reading them when it is convenient to me. I am surprised that with as many iOS updates as there have been between 15 and 16 that this has not been addressed as a major glitch.

Hey there, hoff_monster!

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

Being able to have your notifications available at a quick glance with a scheduled summary is super useful and we want to help you get this resolved. The first thing we'd want to recommend is making sure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. You can do that in Settings > General > Software Version by installing any available updates.

If you're all up to date and it isn't working still, we'd recommend trying to delete any existing schedules and adding a new one to see if that may help the summary work seamlessly.

We hope this does the trick for you!

Cheers.
