I recently updated my iPhone SE to 16.0.2 and now it won't work with Uconnect on my 2021 RAM 1500 system. I've restarted the phone, restarted the vehicle media system, deleted and reinstalled Uconnect, checked the cables. I establishes the Bluetooth connection, but none of the Uconnect apps work, Waze, iTunes, text messaging, all links fail to connect. The phone does charge. I've also checked every security and connection setting I can think of.

I brought my Ram 1500 to the dealership. According to the service department, there’s an over-the-air (OTA) update later in the 4th quarter (October-November-December) that will address this issue. I believe it’s the security update in the iOS. Ram will have to fix the vulnerability that probably came from their ability to do an OTA update while your vehicle is parked and not running.

I figured it out. It is the VPN.
I routinely operate with a VPN active. I found that I have to disable the VPN and then connect the phone to the vehicle. CarPlay then starts like normal. If I connect the phone then disable the VPN, it does not work.

Contact the dealer and have them check if their system needs an update to be compatible.
I've check for software updated for my vehicle using the VIN. Software is the most recent and no updates are available.
