Alexa app on iOs and bluetooth issues

I started having issues with my bluetooth headphones (3 different pairs that worked fine with other devices) periodically dropping sound after having my iphone 12 pro max for about a year. Two visits to the apple store techs later, all the hardware tested fine, so we decided to see if it was a software issue. The phone was wiped and set up as a new phone. Headphones worked fine. No issues were had for a week. Then I started reinstalling apps, and installed the Alexa app. When it asked to used bluetooth and I allowed it, I started having the same bluetooth issues with my wireless headphones. I wiped my phone again, reinstalled as new, and the problem went away.

I'm fairly certain the cause is the Alexa app. Has anyone else experienced this? Any other possibilities here?

Hello, bwlrgrl300.

It sounds like and the Apple techs have done some great troubleshooting together. If the issue reoccurs when you add that app back, it definitely sounds like you've diagnosed the issue correctly. From here, we'd suggest reaching out to Amazon directly to look into this behavior further. This article may offer a starting point to reach them: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all. Thanks and have a fabulous day!

I have been experiencing this problem on my phone for the last few years! I only recently tracked it down to the Alexa app last week, and upon removing it (and rebooting) I have found that the problem has completely resolved itself. This problem followed me through numerous iPhone hardware incarnations, and consistently resulted in weird Bluetooth stuttering. I thought that it was related to some type of Wi-Fi connection, as it always seemed to happen when I got near to a town or a home. I thought it was Wi-Fi related, but it definitely is related directly to the Alexa app in someway. Remove it, and see what your results are.
