SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD getting really hot with M1 MBP!

Hi to everybody! So I bought two SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD 1TB each for editing my photos from them. I have two MBP's, the M1 2020 and 2016 on Intel and a stationary PC.

So when I work from my M1 mbp, those drives are getting really really hot, even when idling... But when I work from my other computers, they are warm, or a bit more than warm.

Do I miss on something or I have a faulty M1 MPB ?

My other external SSD's are fine, but they are SATA, not NVMe (like those SanDisk's are).

All drives get warm when they work and the harder they work the warmer they get. To solve that problem, I used thermal tape and stuck my heavy-use external SSD to an aluminum clipboard. Definitely low tech, but that big piece of AL pulls the heat right out of the drive. It's a Samsung T7 so the case is AL too, so heat flowed very well to the rather large heat sink.
