Apple Music app: playlist i created does not automatically detect duplicate songs when i add them later.
in example if i were browsing new music and find a song i like, i add it to a relevant playlist… many times i already have the song in the playlist, but get no warning that im about to add a duplicate… this is annoying because i then have to go through the playlist find and delete duplicates myself

Make sure it isn't a different version of the same song which won't be detected as a duplicate.
You can also see about finding the duplicates yourself in your library which can still be added without the prompt you're expecting. Here's how to locate them: Find duplicate items in Music on Mac - Apple Support
1. In the Music appon your Mac, click Songs in the sidebar on the left.
2. Select an item, then do one of the following:
Find every instance of that item in your library: Choose File > Library > Show Duplicate Items.
Find exact duplicates: Hold down the Option key, then choose File > Library > Show Exact Duplicate Items.
