Mac OS mail How to lock/keep sizing of columns for From, Subject, Date, etc.

(Mac OS 12.5.1 Mail) My column sizes in the pane for viewing incoming mail keep randomly (appears that way to me) changing sizes from time to time. Then I have to drag column headers back to where I want them. Very annoying. Is there anyway to lock down the sizes I have chosen so they would stop moving? I get that they can be different in different views (Trash, Sent, etc.) but I want them to stay set unless I do something very directly to change them.
