Google Drive shows "no items" from within Safari

I have a model me218ll/a and os v. 9.3.6 (up to date). Google app is not install-able for this model. Still, I'm able to log in drive.google.com from Safari, but is shows "No items", whether I select My Drive, Recent, etc.

That's misleading: there are several folders under My Drive. Reloading does not solve the problem. OTOH the information " 33% of 15gb used" is correct.


What are my options?

The workaround I've found is, the search facility works. I doubt it's going to get better than that.
