Microsoft outlook wants to use your confidential information stored in microsoft identity in your keychain

Hi,

I am on MacBook Pro (early 2015) and Catalina 10.15.5. Recently I downloaded Microsoft Outlook from the App Store. Have not got it to open properly. Every time I open the app, I get the error message: "microsoft outlook wants to use your confidential information stored in "microsoft identity [long number]" in your keychain. Picture below.

I try to type in the same password I use for logging in to the computer. After that when clicking Always allow, the window just pops back up. Same effect with the other 2 options as well. I can't close the pop-up. Only way to do it, is to first force quit the Outlook, after which I can close the pop-up by clicking the "Deny".

I tried the steps here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/office-for-mac-repeatedly-requesting-keychain-access-ced5a09c-3099-47cb-9190-e961bf63e240?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us but with no results.

All my other Microsoft apps (Word, Excel, PP...) work just fine.

What to do in order to get the Outlook app working?

Thanks.

Hi there Topias15,

It sounds like you may need to reset your keychain password in order to access Outlook on your Mac.

Your login keychain password is normally the same as your user password (the password you use to log in to the computer). At login, if your keychain password somehow differs from your user password, it doesn’t automatically unlock, and you’re asked to enter the keychain’s password. It’s recommended that you enter your previous user password. If this doesn’t unlock the keychain, the keychain automatically resets.

If you don’t remember your previous user password, you need to reset your default keychain. Resetting the default keychain deletes all the passwords saved in the keychain, but lets you sync your login password and the password stored in the keychain.
