Irregular usage of location services

I keep turned off the location services and only enabled while navigating any route . Is that the appropriate way to get the best result of Maps application or I need to always keep turning on the location services?

I usually turn off my location services to because i think it consumes higher percentage of battery ideally.

Since last week I am facing the issue of inaccurate location by using maps and now I want to know that the issue is relevant to my usage of location services or not?

See the Settings in the pic below which will help you use the Map as well to save the Battery drain.
