Greetings Mark Romine,

If Touch ID is not working as expected on your iPad, follow the guidance found here:

If Touch ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Follow these steps. Try using Touch ID after each step:

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
  2. Make sure that your fingers and the Touch ID sensor are clean and dry.* For the Touch ID sensor, use a clean, lint-free cloth to wipe off any dirt or debris.
  3. Your finger should cover the Touch ID sensor completely, touching the surrounding metal ring. While Touch ID is scanning, you shouldn't tap too quickly or move your finger around.
  4. If you're using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn't cover the Touch ID sensor or the surrounding ring.
  5. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on, and that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.
  6. Try enrolling a different finger."

Take care.

Hi Dustin_R_308,

Thank you for trying to help. Yes, I have done or tried to do all those things and more including Restore from Backup with multiple reboots.

Item #6 on your list is the only one on that list that I can not perform. I can get to the point seen in the photo below but when I place my thumb or finger on the home button, nothing happens. It will not advance to the next screen where your fingerprint is being scanned. Prior to the update to OS 15.6.1 I could enroll multiple finger prints it worked flawlessly but not any more since the update. I can not get past this screen I can only hit the Cancel button in the upper left corner.
