Voicemail error saving password - loops then says voicemail error, try again later

Contact your carrier for assistance. Voicemail is a carrier feature and they will need to help you with that.

This is another case of finger-pointing between Apple and the carrier. The immediate problem was solved by restarting the iPhone several times. Now I am able to leave a voicemail message, but the iPhone does not play the message but shows it as a missed call, then refers me back the the carrier. I have spent all day between AT&T support and Apple support and have had enough for this week.
