Update procedure to Monterey 12.5.1 does not accept user password

I am trying to update Monterey 12.5 to 12.5.1. Clicking on System Preferences>Software Update>Restart Now, brings up a small window (see attached picture) that asks for my user password. I enter the password for my user and press enter, then the window shakes and nothing else happens. This window remains.

I've tried restarting the Mac, but the same thing happens. Is there a way to correct this problem?

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

I wasn't logged into the admin's id but I wasn't being asked for the admin's password. The window wanted the password of my user id.

After your reply, I logged into admin id but had the same problem, the password was not accepted.

To answer your other question, this iMac has three ids on it with one being an Admin and the other two are Standard ids.

Is this directly related to your user profile iMac 24″, macOS 12.5 ?

If the issue is not resolved in Monterey 12.5.1 - logic tells me the issue will be compounded if upGrading to Venture when it is released

At this point suggest >>
