How to display speed in km/h?

On my Apple Watch, within Workout > Outdoor Walk, my speed is displayed

as a time to walk one kilometer. This indication which is decreasing when I

make progress is not directly understandable.

How may I switch this display of information to a usual unit for speed: km/h?

Apple Watch Series 3, watchOS 5

Thank you for the historical explanation.

I still feel that an indication which is directly proportionnal to the performance is more

efficient for humain brain direct reading. And speed is the usual way to measure…

speed performance. Its inverse force us to make calculation to have a correct

proportionnal indication of the performance.

On the other hand for people interested in how much time they will need to make

a particular trip or race, the time per mile or km is more practical.

In my case I am interested in performance and progress most of the time.

This was the key reason for my original question.

It all depends on what you get used to. If I saw my running progress in speed, I'd just end up doing the math to convert it to pace.

You can certainly let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

What's highly significant is that the word "pace" doesn't translate in many other languages.
For example in French its best translation is "vitesse" which means speed.
For many people, this way to measure speed is not really meaning.

I don't speak French so I can't comment on what the exact term is in French. What I do know, as a runner for many years, is that pace (amount of time it takes you to run one mile) is pretty much the standard running metric.
