Phone mutes other person when speaking on Facetime

Regardless of when using airpods / speaker so that when I speak and the other person starts speaking too, I cannot hear them. The other person does not have this same problem. Previously this question was posed and the solution offered was noise cancellation under Accessibility > Audio/Visual but this no longer seems to be an option on latest software.

Greetings yenyensoccer,

It sounds as though FaceTime audio is muted when you start speaking on a FaceTime call. To confirm, are you able to hear that individual after you stop speaking? If so, let's start by restarting the iPhone using the steps specific to your iPhone model outlined in the following article. For reference, they're also listed below.

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, or 13"

  1. "Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

"How to restart your iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation), 8, 7, or 6"
