M1 2021 touch id delay or not responding

Using MacBook Pro 14", M1, 2021, 16GB RAM, macOS 12.5 Monterey 21G72. Since upgrading to the latest macOS. I have been having delay or failure to log-in using the Touch ID especially after a couple of hours of in activity. I have to touch the touch ID button several times or even press the button before it works but more ofter it fails at least twice daily. I have to log-in using the password and the touch ID will function for few hours before it fails again.

Anyone facing similar issues or have a solution in mind?
