Ambient temperature for use, according to Apple, should be between 10-35 °C.

The specs clearly state the operating environment:

• Maximum storage altitude: 15,000 feet
• Maximum shipping altitude: 35,000 feet

The linked article applies to all Mac notebooks. There have been several models without fans over the years. If you're concerned about that, look into a MacBook Pro which does have active cooling.
