Live Photo - Movie File Import-fcpX

I know the question was asked a few years ago... any ideas on how to import "Live Photos" into FCPX in order to keep the original movie portion?

Use Image Capture to import the files to the Mac. It will import both the JPEG and the Live Photo movie.

What determines the number of frames in a live photo? I'm currently working to export the .mov file of a live photo and break it out into individual .jpg's made up of all of it's frames. I can take the exact same photo and each one will have a different number of frames that make up it's .mov file. Does anyone know how the camera app decided which frames are usable and saved to the live photo?

I was able to export the LIVE images in PHOTOS using "export unmodified original photo" and it game me the still as well as the movie file!
