It needs to be attached directly to the Mac. No hub or dock.

Superdrive (model A1379) CD/DVD drive not working with MacBook Air My model A1379 Superdrive works with my MacBook Pro but does not work with my newly purchased MacBook Air. Two hours with Apple Support could not resolve the problem. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue.

Can't play DVDs/CDs on 2020 Macbook Air I am trying to use the Apple external CD and DVD player on my 2020 Macbook Air. It is not appearing as being connected. It works fine on my older Macbook Air. When I looked for the CD and DVDs icon in systems preferences I got this message You can’t open the “CDs & DVDs” settings pane because it is not available to you at this time. What is going on? I've searched but it seems like none else has had this problem.
