I followed all necessary instructions on the apple website to link my Bose 500 to my Apple music successfully. However, Alexa responses "Apple Music is not supported on this device". It is linked fine in the Alexa App but wont even have Apple music options under the play tab.

There are no other options. The information provided in the previous article (Play Apple Music with Alexa - Apple Support) is correct: An Amazon Echo, Amazon Fire TV, or Alexa-enabled Sonos speaker that you already set up with the Amazon Alexa app on your iOS or Android device is required.

Are there any other options that DON'T require an additional Alexa device, as in the follow instruction? I do not own a Echo, Fire TV, or Sonos speaker. It seems kind of silly for one of those to be required to use Alexa with another manufacturer. Isn't it?:
