Whenever you buy iPhone, first check its IMEI number. Check the IMEI number of the phone on the product's box, and or in settings. Visit Apple's website Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support.

The iPhone runs iOS, a proprietary operating system designed by Apple. Counterfeit iPhones are powered by Android but have an iOS-like skin on top to trick consumer. You should test the device and examine the product carefully. Check if the iPhone comes with default apps like Safari, Health and Calculator. Try to download a few apps from the App Store, if possible. Check if the iPhone, has Pentalobe security screws, near the Lightning Charger. Counterfeit Phones have cross screws. If you have a Windows, or Mac, install iTunes, and Connect your iPhone to your computer and sync it iTunes. If you are not able to connect it, and iTunes does not recognize your phone; then you may have a Counterfeit-iPhone.
