Best Backup Option for MacBook Air

I use Time Machine for our desktop, but of course it is connected all the time. What is the best option for continuous (or on demand) backups for a laptop like the MB Air?

Time Machine. Some folks like Carbon Copy Cloner instead for Time Machine for any device.

Time Machine Backups My AirPort base station / Time Capsule is at end-of-life and I need another backup option that's NOT in the cloud. Mac backup Hello everyone willing to help. I have a question. Does backing up my Mac with Time Machine presume the usage of a Storage device too, or these two are rather alternative methods for backing up? In other words - does Time Machine backup always go hand to with the Storage device
