I have used ”Set date and time automatically” and the time and date its still wrong.

My M1 MacBook Air its been sitting there for more the 3 months without power. When I turn it on yesterday I have noticed the date & time its not correct. So I have fallow the instruction on Apple's website to set the date & time. I have tried clicked on ”Set date and time automatically” and it did not work! The date still stock on the 2nd of March. For that reason I can not open any websites while I have internet connection. Then I have tried to set time Date & time manually which everything works as normal (can get website open). However, once I turn on the ”Set date and time automatically”, the date will turn back to 2nd of March then no internet. I have tried both safe mode and normal condition. Is there any other way I can make it work? I really don't want to reinstall the system.

Hello guys I have solved the problem. This is how I did it:

  1. Right click on Finder and go file "/var/db"
  2. Inside the file "db" and find a file "timed", delete it
  3. Restart your Mac
  4. Go to System Preferences, then click Date & Time
  5. On the "Set date and time automatically", turn it off then turn it back on.

Things back to normal.

Thanks to everyone who is trying to help me on this issue. You guys are the best.

Proxies - Network proxies detected. This could be evidence of malware.

Unsigned files - There are unsigned software files installed that could be malicious and should be reviewed.

Unsigned Files:

Launchd: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macpaw.zh.CleanMyMac4.Agent.plist

Executable: /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.macpaw.zh.CleanMyMac4.Agent

Cleanmymac is awful, and something that you should never let loose on your mac.

I'd start by completely uninstalling it. Note that you'll have to follow their developers' instructions. It is NOT enough to drag it to the trash.

I am not familiar with this. Is this how you are setting up your vpn?

A proxy is something that will redirect your internet access.

I can only wonder if those proxy configurations have anything to do with it.

They may be necessary to reach the outside world.

I have vpn since I am in China which I need it to get access to the world. Never the less I have tried both turn on and off vpn which working on this issues. It still not working.

Thank you for the help.

So you are using a VPN to hide your real location yet you want the time to reflect your real location. Appears this may be a contributing factor.
