messenger app no notification

I have no notification about new messages form messenger.
it just displays the number how many the new messages come in when minimizing the app
when closing the app, there no notification of number to inform the new messenger comes. 
i have turned on all notification settings in app and device already. i am on ios version 15.5

Facebook Messenger notification issue So, for some reason Im not receiving messenger notifications , now it seems to be only when I close the app from my app list, if I leave it open I get notifications, all the relevant settings, notifications in iPhone and in messenger setting have been turned on, I’ve deleted and re-download the app, restarted the phone multiple times, I’ve done abit of testing and I’ve messaged myself from another phone and account, when the app has been closed messages are “sent” and no notification, but when the app is open in the background and screen locked, messages are “delivered” and I get a notification, background refresh is turned on, low power mode turn off, Do not disturb is turned off, I’m lost for ideas atm, anyone else had this issue ?

I have updated to iOS 16 but messenger now no longer notifies when a message arrives. I've tried rebooting, deleting the app and reinstalling and testing all open notifications. My friend uses iOS 15, the notification is still normal. Hope apple f I have updated to iOS 16 but messenger now no longer notifies when a message arrives. Turn off all notifications from messenger in settings, wait 24 hours, then turn them on again. Most of the times this helps
