How to know if someone wiped my lost iPad and turned off the app?

I lost my iPad in Hawaii or on my way back to San Diego. The app shows that it's still at the hotel in Hawaii, but of course they can't find it. My question is that the date and time on shown is the night before I checked out and it hasn't changed. Does that mean it's still there and the date and time just didn't update? Or someone wiped it clean and turned off the app? Thanks

Unless someone has your passcode, Apple ID, and password, they cannot turn off Find My. However, if they attempted to wipe the device, it would prevent you from tracking it. But, since it is still showing in Find My, they haven't done that. The next thing is the battery may be dead, and the device may not be connected to the internet. The device needs to be powered on and connected to the internet for you to be able to track it. Did you turn the device off before you left the hotel? When you look it up on Find My, does it say Offline?
