MacBook Pro Screen broken

My 2016 macbook pro screen is broken. It has a bunch of lines on the side and the rest is black. I am able to use an external monitor. I don't have apple care. How much will it cost to get a new screen?

This can not be just bad luck. This is definitely a manufacturing defect and apple should start a repair program. My warranty has recently expired. I can not bear the cost of replacing the display just after a year of purchase. That too for something I am not responsible for.

Broken screen or wire problem 3 year old MacBook Pro 2019 , A2159. I have attached pictures of its different stage. At first it was a vertical strip of black screen at one stop but has gotten progressively worse. As apple normally recommend to change the whole screen which is expensive. what could be causing this. TLDR ; screen worked only on acute angel , had a vertical black strip but got worse. apple technician says its broken screen. need second opinion
