Youtube videos crash mac

I have a 2020 27-inch iMac with latest OS (Monterey 12.4). When watching youtube videos the video will freeze, the audio will loop on the last sound, and the Mac freezes. It requires a reboot unfreeze the Mac. This happens on multiple browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome) and has happened for the past few OS updates. It doesn't matter whether the video is normal or full screen.

After rebooting it will often freeze again trying to resume the video. This can happen to me 4-5 times a day.

Ideally I'd prefer to hear from someone who has seen this same problem and resolved it as opposed to random guesses and theories as to why it might be happening.
