How do I sync Mac Mail with Microsoft Exchange?

Hi there,

I am having this incredibly weird issue linking up my Mac Mail and my (GoDaddy) Microsoft Exchange email.


I keep getting an "Unable to verift account name or password" error when trying to setup a Microsoft Exchange email address using Mac Mail on both my MacBook Pro Mail and iPad Mail.


However, I am absolutely fine to log into Outlook https://outlook.office.com/ webmail page *and* I'm able to use the Outlook app, on my iPad successfully to set up the Microsoft Exchange email.


When I check Connection Doctor on Mac Mail, I find the SMTP "Connection and login to server succeeded" and status green but the IMAP is status red and "Trying to log in to this IMAP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct". I have use TLS/SSL ticked on and Port 993.


This is such a puzzle!

I think I have it fixed. Took a while. My Microsoft account is managed by my employer and it has a custom domain name.

Process:

  1. I deleted any trace of the account from my settings.
  2. Started the setup process again for a new Exchange account,
  3. Clicked 'Sign In' instead of 'Configure Manually.'
  4. There's a button for 'Other Options' - I used that & it asked for my organization's custom domain.
  5. Thereafter the process continues as normal, but this time it works.

I am trying to set up a new Microsoft Exchange email account on Mac Mail.

Mac Mail was not able to do this. I have no idea why.


So then I tried to set up a Mail account manually by adding the IMAP and SMTP information.

This also hasn't work.

I'm thinking it has something to do with not being able to set and save Port 993 on my IMAP settings.

How do I sync Mac Mail with Microsoft Exchange?
