Cannot connect my personal .com email in Mac Mail via exchange or IMAP?

I bought a personal domain and made an email address out of it. It works in my Outlook but will not go 'online' in MacMail as an exchange or entered as IMAP with server information. How do I fix this?

Hi, welcome to the Apple Users Community.


Please check with your domain host what their email settings require.


POP and IMAP do not use the same setup.


Also check your OS, are you using Yosemite?
