Apple Card on 2 phones with same AppleID

My wife and I have iPhones and we have used my Apple ID since I can remember. I recently applied and got an apple credit card. I tried and tried to setup family sharing, but I’m assuming because it’s the same Apple ID I can’t create a family sharing setup. What I really need to know is is there a way I can add her as an authorized user to the card? I would hate to have to create a new Apple ID just for this reason, and I truly hope there is a way other than that to add her to the card.

Each Apple Card credit card must be associated with its own Apple ID. You wife must have her own unique Apple ID in order for her to be a Participant (authorized user) and/or Co-owner.
