Damaged LCD Screen

I cracked my MacBook Air just 6 months after purchasing. It took over a year of saving up so I cried when I saw I’d damaged it. I think it’s a relatively small crack but I use my laptop mainly for schoolwork and need the entire screen. I tried using apple support and took it to get fixed today but they said it would cost almost $500. I checked my warranty and was confused because I thought this was a hardware issue and was covered by warranty. Does this crack not qualify for the warranty?

I’ve decided not to fix it for now. Will the screen damage the software or capability of my laptop?

Hi,

See following legal note about one year limited warranty.
