Connect Apple Display to MacBook Pro

Trying to connect a 27" LED Cinema Display (A1316) to a MacBook Pro 13" (A2289) using a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter (USB-C). The response is Thunderbolt 2 is not connected. Has anyone had this issue? The adapter was suggested by two employees at the Apple Store In King of Prussia PA.

That adapter is Thunderbolt only. It will not work with Mini DisplayPort displays, even thogh the plugs will fit.


Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - Apple

"Note: This adapter does not support DisplayPort displays like the Apple LED Cinema Display"


You need a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort Adapter, such as:
