Regarding SMS and MMS message. My iPhon 6 is IOS 12.5.5 and iPad 6th generation is IOS 15.1. I am unable to send SMS. According to this article, my iPhone and iPad are using IOS 8 and above. Please advise.

i am unable to send SMS on iPad 6th generation IOS 15.1 (iPad is WiFi only). According to Apple, I should be able to send SMS using IOS 8.0 or greater. My iPhone 6 is set for Text Message Forwarding (iPad is allowed to send and receive text message from iPhone).

I was told to upgrade iPad to IOS 15.1 and it would resolve SMS send problem. Now today, I’m told only iPad with cellular are allowed for SMS send. Can this be true? Or is this fixable?
