I'm using ios 14.8 on my iPhone 12. I have had lots of trouble with my phone calls being silenced.
Even if don't use the Do Not Disturb function, the SILENCE function still silences my phone calls. Is the problem that with SILENCE you only have 2 choices: ALWAYS or 'when phone locked?' I do have to Allow All calls selected.

That options only works if you have DND turned ON. Check your phone settings and turn off silence unknown callers.

What did you expect to happen? There are 2 different functions, linked only by being in the same iPhone body. The physical Silent switch pretty much mutes all alerts. DND (now part of Focus) is a software function which can also block incoming alerts. If either is set the alerts will be muted.
Thanks for the replies razmee209 and branta_uk - I could swear it is happening even though I do not have DND turned on. (and yes, the manual switch is in the off/not red position). I'm due to upgrade to 15.0, I'll do that and see if it works any better.
