I got an Apple Watch for my birthday and the watch is still paired to the old owners phone I have no idea who the old owner is or how to contact them. Is there a way that I can disconnect their phone from the watch myself?

the activation lock is not really on the watch it's a

theft protection measure on apples servers


it needs to be removed

Recover Your Apple ID - Apple


if that does not help you then you need the assistance of apple
