Saving a QuickTime Player recording

I made a QuickTime Player recording - how do I save it in a folder on my desktop? I'd like to keep it as well as share it

if you haven't already, create your folder on the desktop. (for this example, mine is named "desktop folder") then, open QT recording controls by press and holding "command+shift+5". then choose "other location".

then in the window that pops up, locate and select your desktop folder and click "choose".

then re-open recording options, ("command+shift+5") and this time choose "desktop folder". and you should also select "Remember Last Selection" so the recordings stay set to save to the new folder.
