my ipad wont show in finder in my mac os

im trying to restore my ipad air from a backup on my mac os. im using a USB-C digital AV multiple port and a hdmi cable but when i plug it doesn't show on my mac.

I believe HDMI is wrong, you need USB or USB-C...
